ARTIFICIAL WALK is a joint street-performance, an act of vigilance, for which the artist invites eight people to walk with her. They each get a blue tarpaulin mantle, a numbered element in a series. The form of the ephemeral human sculptures that emerge brings to mind Manzù’s Cardinals. The blue tarpaulins function as artificial extensions around the human bodies and create a network. While walking the performers copy a code for tenderness and compassion. By walking together, they generate A.S. Artificial Spirituality which is even more necessary than A.I. Artificial Intelligence.
Marie Julia Bollansée makes the performance happen on different places in the world: #1 Ronse (BE) 2017, #2 Chemnitz (DE) 2017, #3 Tokyo (JP) 2019, #4 Bruges (BE) 2021, #5 Ahmedabad (India) 2025….
